What A Blessing To Belong To An Honest Neighborhood

As individuals who keep this Law of not spreading a false report receive benefits, their neighbors will receive benefits as well. These neighbors will be blessed as they learn by example how this Law can be easily kept. When they see the blessings come upon a person obeying this Law, they too will desire those same blessings. In this way, they will also seek to perform this beneficial Law.

When an individual in a neighborhood is known as one who will not spread false reports, he is considered trustworthy by his neighbors. This will benefit them in their family life and business ventures.

If the entire neighborhood was practicing this one Law, it would experience a life of true honesty. Each one would know the other neighbors are honest people who have no hidden ambitions. They would see no benefit in slandering one another; therefore, they would live together peaceably. This is what the Apostle Shaul called leading a quiet life.

I Thessalonians 4:11-12—
11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That you may walk honestly before those who are outside, and that you may have lack of nothing.

The apostle Shaul is telling us plainly that by minding our own business; staying out of matters that we don't have any knowledge or involvement in, we will lack nothing! What a blessing it would be to belong to an honest neighborhood, one where the people are truly blessed for their integrity. This would no doubt cause other neighborhoods to desire the benefits of keeping this Law by not spreading a false report.

Proverbs 10:17-22—
17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses reproof goes astray.
18 He who reveals hatred with lying lips; he who spreads slander --is a fool.
19 In a multitude of careless words sin is not lacking, so he who controls his tongue is wise.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the mind of the wicked has no value.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom.
22 The blessing of Yahweh makes a man rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.
